Newsletter #004 – Where to Find Your Perfect Customer

Finding your perfect customer and being ready to sell to them is more than just dreaming up a post or advert to be promoted on social media and hoping the customer will find your post, stop on your site before eventually buying your product.

It is about knowing what your customers want, where they are in their life journey and which social media they are likely to be using.

The more you know about your perfect customer the more you can ensure you reach them.

Where Do You Find Your Perfect Customer?

If you don’t have buying customers then you don’t have a business.  But where do you find customers who are eager to buy?

That comes down to knowing who your perfect customer is.

In the previous newsletters, we spoke about knowing who your customer is and what they want.  Someone in their 70’s isn’t likely to be wanting the same thing as someone in their 20’s.  Their life perspective is different.

The more that you can identify and niche your customer the better prepared you are to find them.

Social Media, is the biggest platform available to get in front of your perfect customers.

Each Social Media Platform has a different role to play and a different audience.  When you know who your customer is, you can target the platform they are most likely to be on and provide the information about your product in the format most suited to the platform.

Most people assume they can create one piece of information and post the same info to all platforms.  It doesn’t work.  Remember, at different times in life, people have different languages.  Again, someone in their 70’s may be retired.  They want to enjoy retirement. See Newsletter #003.

Someone in their 20s will be starting out in life thinking about travelling, working, getting their own home, etc.

Marketing and Advertising have to be aimed at the specific audience who will purchase your product or service.  If you think your product is suitable for all ages then you have to run several campaigns aimed at different age groups with the right wording for each group.

A quick summary of the platforms

The more you understand each social media platform the more you can customize your posts for that site using the write language.

  • Facebook – more personal and about your transformation using whatever you are selling.  For me I sell making money and lifestyle.  Many of my posts are about lifestyle.  I’m showing the transformation.
  • Instagram – this platform’s potential customers want more information about the product.  So, on this platform posts are about the product and benefits.
  • Twitter – is bite-size information treated like breaking news.  Announce your product to the world.
  • YouTube – is the “how to” this is where you break down the information and show customers what happens.
  • TikTok – is short attention-grabbing antics driving potential clients to your YouTube channel.
  • Podcasts – these are short info podcasts of 10 – 15 minutes and interviews of around an hour.
  • LinkedIn – tends to be more business-to-business orientated.

As you can see, each social media platform has a different purpose.  Your client will be using the platform for a specific reason.

So, now you know who your client is, what problem they want solved, and where they are most likely to be.  You can create the right message, using the right language, in the right format to attract your perfect client.

This Week’s Action Steps

Create an image of your perfect customer identifying their age, interests and what type of language they would be using.
