Newsletter #023 – The Goal is Organic Growth

When you first start a new business, you hope friends and family will share the good news and the business will boom. Most of the time it doesn’t happen.

Yes, they may tell a friend or two about the business but generally, it is up to the business owner to make a large noise about their business. They start the hard slog of getting visitors to transition to customers.

Social Media Marketing is a start – covered in previous newsletters.

However, the most successful Online Entrepreneurs work on organic growth to build their customer base and ultimately, their customers.

So, how do they get organic growth?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is a digital marketing strategy designed to enhance a website’s visibility in search engine results pages (known as SERPs) organically. The primary goal of SEO is to improve a website’s ranking for specific keywords or phrases that users might enter when searching for relevant information or products online.

There are on-page and off-page tactics to optimize a website.

On-page SEO

On-page SEO focuses on optimizing individual web pages, including meta titles, meta descriptions, header tags and high-quality content that matches user intent.

Proper keyword research is vital to identify the most relevant and high-traffic keywords.

Rather than competing against the “big boys” on SEO Keywords, look at low-hanging fruit which is the strategy of targeting smaller niches with less competition.

This helps to build momentum and attract a steady stream of organic growth to the website.

Off Page SEO

Off-page SEO, on the other hand, concentrates on other factors including building high-quality backlinks from reputable websites, social media marketing and brand mentions to establish the authority and credibility of the website.

So, when the website is created there is a lot of back-office work required to build organic growth through both on-page and off-page activity.

How Search Engines Work

Search engines like Google use complex algorithms to determine how websites rank in search results

They evaluate factors like

  • Content quality
  • Backlinks
  • Website speed
  • Mobile-friendliness
  • User Experience

When all of these work in sync, the search engine ranks the page higher. The higher the ranking the more traffic to the website and the better the opportunity to sell.

Pace Yourself to Build Momentum

4 weeks ago, I started a new online business – Online Entrepreneur – the website is https://theonlineentrepreneur.co.uk It is quite easy to become overwhelmed with all the activities to get the website active and viewed. I put a plan in place to pace myself during the week.

I set a target of working for 30 minutes each day to build the site and create content. My first week looked like this

  • Buy URL and transfer to web host Wealthy Affiliate
  • Select Theme and activate SEO Optimization, Kraken Image Optimizer and Site Kit by Google (all came with the site theme and just need activating)
  • Set up Meta Titles and Website Content Framework
  • Set up a Custom Menu and Navigation
  • Using Keywords write 1st blog: an about me page and a privacy policy page.

The result Google Indexed the website within 48 hours. Traffic to the site is 100% direct traffic (means people clicked on a link to visit the site)

3 Weeks later organic traffic at 5.3% of all traffic to the website

Today, in my 4th week the organic traffic is at 5.6%

As I continue to add content and pages to the website, a little each week. The organic traffic to the site should continue growing.

If you are struggling to get traffic to your website, take a few minutes to look at your weekly activity on your site.

Are you implementing as many strategies as possible to grow organic traffic?
