Newsletter #013 – Be Strategic, Go Back to What Works
This week I was delivering a training session about strategic investing.
Strategic Investing involves using different strategies depending on what is happening in the current markets. History tells us what happened in a similar situation in the past. We also look at what worked previously in the markets and what didn’t work. Then studying the results work out what the best strategy is for the current situation.
Business is the same.
Back to Basics
There are always basic things that work. That’s the things that helped you start and grow your business.
Going back to the basics helps increase the building blocks you have for your business, increase the products on offer and increase opportunities.
It’s being strategic by looking at what worked in the past and repeating it to stabilize or grow your business in difficult times.
For Example – My coaching business was founded through writing books. One day a guy stopped me in the street with one of my books in his hand and asked me to coach him. My business has now been operating for 7 years. But like most people struggling due to the economic climate, since September 2022 I had noticed a decline in sales turnover.
So, the first step was to go right back to basics. Look at what had worked in the past (writing books) and start rebuilding.
I put a plan together which meant, writing a new book, creating blogs and social media interest to sell the book and linking the book to existing courses.
The step-by-step plan
- Step 1 – I wrote a new book published in June about Affiliate Marketing which instantly started selling through the marketing strategy.
- Step 2 – An offer was made in the book providing a discount to purchase a mini-course called Quick Affiliate Profits
- Step 3 – Another offer is available through the mini-course to upgrade to Sales Booster Strategies Course which looks at how to build sales funnels without using funnel software.
- Step 4 – This leads to the Affiliate Marketing Mastery Masterclass which is a live coaching session about writing sales copy.
So, in March this year, I became strategic about what worked in the past and how to make it work again. The result is, that August has been my best month ever since starting my business nearly 7 years ago.
It wasn’t an instant success as it took 5 months for the results to start showing, so patience is needed but being strategic has helped my business to grow in difficult times.

Take a step back and look at your business. What was the best month for sales?
What was being done to generate those sales?
Now create a strategic plan and put in place the same steps you were using at the time the sales were generated.
