You Need Money to Start an Online Business

I remember creating my first online business. It was a far different world to what we have today. And yes, you did need money to get started.

First, you need to get a domain name, then have a web designer create a website for you. That in itself would take $3k – $5k.

Second, a budget was needed to pay for advertising because although the business was online old fashioned ideas about advertising in newspapers or paid ads online were costly.

How the world has changed.

Today, you can start an online business with zero money.

Social Media has changed the face of advertising for better or for worse.

For example, on Facebook, create a business page and start advertising your product – zero cost.

This strategy can be duplicated on every social media platform. All you need to do is identify which platform your ideal client will be on. Then learn how to master the platform.

 

I Have No Product to Sell

Affiliate Marketing is a huge part of the $5 trillion online industry. An industry that grows on average by 10% per annum.

Many different products can be sold online that don’t cost anything. Simply get your unique link and product information in front of as many people as possible.

Online Courses don’t need money to create or deliver.

YouTube provides a free platform for hosting videos. Unlist the videos and only people who have paid for your product will receive the link and be able to view the videos.

Better still, create a YouTube channel and provide information. With enough people viewing your videos it can be monetized and YouTube will pay you for each video watched.

No product, no information simply someone sharing their thoughts about someone else’ video, book or content.

Today, people don’t need a product to sell something online.

 

It Takes A Lot of Time To Start A Business

I recently attended a social media advertising training course. The host issued a challenge to the audience.

“Get out your mobile phones. Open up Facebook and on your timeline ask the question who needs help with their social media advertising. Keep your phones on and as soon as you get a response let me know.”

It took about 2 minutes for someone to put up their hand to show they had a response.

Within 2 minutes they had their first lead. They could then set up an appointment to discuss their new social media advertising business and hopefully make a sale.

Starting an online business is one of the easiest and quickest types of businesses to set up.

A friend of mine said, that when he started in the online business he couldn’t believe it. He followed the system, set everything up, and thought, it won’t work. Went away for the weekend and was stunned to discover on Monday the sales and commissions earned.

Writing self-published books is a hobby of mine. One day a guy stopped me in the street with a book in his hand and asked me to coach him.

Later when I set up Karen Newton International, I put a question on Facebook asking who would be interested in learning about investing.

There was a huge response so I created a Facebook Group and created my first program Zero to Millionaire. I charged clients £25 per month to test a product that I hadn’t even created.

The training was once a month. Following a meeting, I would write the next training session based on the questions asked the month before.

I started new coaching groups every 3 months. The price steadily increased with each new group until I charged £50 per month for the training course. At which time I had enough content to create a self-learning online course. I charge £697 for the course.

It has been the best-selling course for my business for 8 years.

I had no product simply asked a question on Facebook and hey presto had clients wanting to buy it.

It doesn’t take a lot of time to start a business. It takes a commitment to start and work on it consistently until you get results.

 

Learning is Expensive

What is expensive is what you don’t know.
