Mad March Challenge

We all know or should know by now, that content is king when it comes to driving traffic to a website.

To drive traffic to a website, search engines are looking for good content and visitor experience.

Part of the user experience is search engines tracking if your website was the end of the line. By that I mean, did the visitor get all the information they wanted, stop searching and make a purchase if that was their intent? Or did they continue visiting other websites after yours?

The better the quality of content on your website the more likely the visitor is to see you as the expert and buy on your recommendation.

Quality Content Drives Traffic

However, It is surprising how few people get around to writing sufficient content for their website, let alone, the type of content a visitor is looking for and wonder why their website ranks so lowly in the search engines.

There are 3 types of blog content we talk about on a website

Informative – this is providing information that a visitor wants. This should be the higher proportion of content making up about 80%
Transactional – this is the content where we make the sales pitch to the prospective customer. This should be about 20%
Unique/Backlink – this includes graphs, surveys or information that is totally unique to you.

Other types of content to be added to a website include videos such as YouTube and audio such as podcasts.

They are valuable content that can and should be added to your website (embedded) or linked back to wherever they are hosted.

On all my websites, I include a podcast player. This way the visitor gets the latest podcasts as they are released. It has the added benefit of counting towards new content on the website.

All these different types of content are necessary for building your EEAT (Expertise, Experience, Authority and Trustworthiness). In turn, this improves rankings and traffic.

So, to help support and encourage you to get more content onto your websites I’m setting up a challenge.

The Mad March Challenge

One of my mentors has set a March challenge. It consists of writing 60,000 words and producing 30 videos and/or podcasts.

It will take a lot of work to generate this level of content, but I am looking forward to the challenge and the benefits to my website during the process.

The challenge aim is to increase good content on the Website, YouTube and Podcast channels and grow organic traffic/followers.

My challenge for you is –

Create 30 blogs on your website that include a combination of informative, transactional and unique/backlink content.
Create 10 videos/podcasts for your channel

This Week’s Action Step

Take the challenge – write 30 blogs for your website and create 10 videos or podcasts or a combination of both throughout March

Take a snapshot of your Google Search Console performance. This is your starting point and how you measure performance over the month.
